How to become an Approved Firewood Vendor
Vendors from inside Minnesota
Fill out an application form, agreeing to sell wood that is either harvested in Minnesota, not more than 100 miles from the state-administered lands where it will be burned, or is kiln-dried, unpainted, unstained dimensional lumber free of metal or other foreign substances. Please bring this application to the nearest MNDNR Forestry Office for signature of approval.
Vendors from outside Minnesota
Fill out an application form, initial Option B on the form states that the firewood you are selling has been treated according to federal guidelines so it is free of harmful pests such as emerald ash borer and is accompanied by a copy of the documentation verifying treatment. Please bring this application to the nearest MNDNR Forestry Office for signature of approval. Currently, this option is only for vendors from outside Minnesota who have been inspected and “certified” by their state department of agriculture.
