District 9 - Brainerd area

CO Chelsey Best (Pequot Lakes) took enforcement action this week for fish snagging, ATV/OHM issues and various trapping violations.

CO Jim Guida (Brainerd) worked sport fishing and all-terrain vehicle enforcement this week. A crappie bite was monitored. Compliance with regulations has been good. An adult ATV owner was addressed with enforcement action after allowing two untrained youth to operate a class two ATV on a local street without helmets, seatbelts, driver?s licenses, and safety training.

CO Calie Cook (Crosslake) spent time checking anglers on the water and preparing equipment for fishing opener. Cook also investigated a garbage dumping case. Enforcement action was taken for angling without a license.

CO Matthew Brodin (Brainerd) attended training at Camp Ripley during the week. CO Brodin also checked multiple turkey hunters in the Pilsbury State Forest with no violations discovered. CO Brodin addressed a deer feeding complaint. Feed means grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, hay, and other food that is cable of attracting or enticing deer. Enforcement action was taken for careless motor vehicle operation on forest road, driving without insurance and deer feeding and attractant ban violation.

CO Andrew Ladzinski (Pine River) encountered a wide variety of calls this week. He followed up on reports of a large number of cattails cleared from in front of a lake home. He received information that yard waste was being dumped into Pine River. He received a complaint from a landowner who was concerned with a trap located in a river by her residence. Enforcement action was taken for various ATV violations.
