CO Garrett Thomas (Eagan) spent time patrolling for anglers on the local rivers, lakes, and trout stream. Many rainbow trout continue to be caught on the stream despite the poor weather conditions. Time was also spent assisting local agencies with watercraft training and following up on a variety of TIP complaints.

CO Steve Chihak (Hastings) spent the week working sport fishing, spring turkey hunting and ATV enforcement. Time was also spent responding to TIP reports and miscellaneous wildlife calls.

CO Tony Salzer (Ham Lake) patrolled Anoka County for angling activity. Fishing activity on area rivers was monitored and enforcement action was taken on several violations. CO Salzer also patrolled for bow fishing activity and watched several groups bow fishing for carp and other rough fish. Several violations were detected. Please remember to bring lifejackets/PFDs in your watercraft.

CO Matt Paavola (White Bear Lake) patrolled for angling activity on area lakes and along river stretches. He handled multiple complaints of anglers keeping fish out of season and in catch and release areas. Turkey hunters were also checked throughout the week with limited success observed during the first parts of the spring season.

CO Scott Arntzen (Forest Lake) spent the week checking anglers, turkey hunters and watercraft users. He also dealt with nuisance animal calls, answered questions about accessing water bodies from the road right of way and did equipment maintenance. Violations for the week included overlimit of fish, fishing without a license and taking fish in a closed season.

CO Tou Vang (ELCOP-Hmong) fielded nuisance animal complaints, checked shore anglers, and conducted AIS checks. Anglers report the fish bite is still hit or miss but remain optimistic as water temperatures continue to warm.
